Description: 5-HTP is a metabolite of L-tryptophan and a precursor of serotonin and melatonin. Our 5-HTP is naturally derived from the seeds of the African plant, Griffonia simplicifolia, and is combined with activated vitamin B-6 (P5P), an important cofactor in serotonin metabolism.
Uses: 5-HTP supports healthy serotonin levels. Serotonin is an important neurotransmitter that plays a role in mood, sleep, anxiety, appetite, pain sensation, and gut health. Clinical trials indicate that 5-HTP provides support for normal moods and emotional well-being.
5-HTP may moderate appetite and food cravings, and two weight-loss studies recorded significant results compared to placebo. Serotonin is also found in high concentrations in the gut where it regulates gastrointestinal motility.
5-HTP may moderate cranial blood vessel function to promote cranial comfort.
Glycine, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, can have a calming effect.
Vitamin B-6 is essential for reactions involving the metabolism of amino acids, including the conversion of 5-HTP to serotonin.
Vitamin C is the most important water soluble antioxidant in the body. It is a cofactor in the biosynthesis of the catecholamine neurotransmitters, epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
Source Materials: 5-HTP is extracted from Griffonia simplicifolia seeds. Ascorbic acid is derived from corn sorbitol. P5P and glycine are synthetic. Cellulose for capsules is derived from softwood tree pulp. All ingredients are vegan and there is no detectable GM material present.
